Are you a permanent Staff or Administrative Staff Analyst or reachable on either current list? If so, the Bronx District Attorney's office may be looking for you!

The Bronx DA has shared with OSA the two job postings you can download at the link below:

Assisting candidates for the upcoming Staff Analyst exam continues today, but since the filing ends on Tuesday, we now proceed to the classroom sessions.

If you are not already enrolled, but wish to take the training, complete the enrollment form you can download at the link below:

If you are an OSA member, those classes are free. If you are not presently a member, you can join OSART and register for the classes.

The Staff Analyst Exam Training Course Registration Form will give you the dates of the training and days of choice. Please note the need to act quickly.

You can also call George at the union office and he will assist you.

Otherwise, things are quiet in terms of negotiations because the City has not yet been able to schedule a meeting. We did ask, but vacations clearly interfered.

OSA Newsline -- August 6, 2018

Filing is still open for the Staff Analyst exam. The filing period opened August 1, 2018. It runs through August 21st. If you (or anyone you know) would be interested in taking this exam, please let them know about the filing opportunity.

DCAS intends to hold a multiple choice SA test starting on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. The filing process is in the form of a computer-based Qualifying Education and Experience Test. Your education and experience will be evaluated online and you will receive immediate tentative results on whether you qualify or not to take the multiple choice exam.

You will be required to state your education and to reflect relevant professional experience by selecting tasks chosen from a "Staff Analysis Series Task Inventory."

The Notice of Exam can be found at the link that follows:

2018 Staff Analyst Notice of Exam

The union will be assisting candidates in completing the online Education and Experience Test. If you wish to complete the application and would like the union’s assistance, please call George at the union office at 212-686-1229.

If you are not currently an OSA member, you will be required to pay $97.50 by money order and complete a form to become a member of our related professional association, OSART, which you can download at the link below: OSART Application Form

Please note: if you already joined OSART prior to the recent Staff Analyst Trainee exam, you do not have to pay the OSART membership fee again.

The union will be providing an eight week training course for the Staff Analyst exam starting the week of September 10th through the end of October. To sign up for this training, complete the enrollment form you can download at the link below:

If you are an OSA member, those classes are free. If you are not presently a member, you can join OSART and register for the classes.

In addition to the in-person training, you can purchase DVDs of prior training sessions for other Analyst series exams. The material covered is substantially the same as what will be included in the in-person training this time around and offers you the opportunity to review material repeatedly and at your own pace. You can download a coupon to order the DVDs or tapes by clicking this link.

Many members have been calling the union to report that the City has stopped collecting their dues.

Yes, the City has made many errors about who is or is not a union member. The problem is easily resolved by calling us. We will send you a union card which you can sign and send back to us. That resolves the problem. Or you can download the card, sign it and return it by email to joinosa@osaunion.org, by fax to 212-686-1231 or by mail to the union address.

You can find the card for download at this link.

Finally, we have had a few phone calls about our next contract, but from members, not the City.

Until the City agrees to a date for negotiation, there won’t be any. We have put in our request to bargain, but they may not be ready until the Fall.
